Best of the Blog 2016

Well, that wraps up another year! To finish up 2016, here is a list of the 10 most popular posts on my blog over this last year. Whether you missed one or want a quick refresher read, here you go!

First a note of thanks
I wanted to start this post with saying a special thank you to everyone for taking your valuable time to read my blog this year! Thanks also to all those who shared, liked and passed along my posts in various ways. Thanks to those who purchased my book “Athletic Training for Fat Loss”.

I also wanted to give a special note of thanks to Jon Goodman and the PTDC (Personal Trainer Development Center). I’m grateful to not only have some of my articles published on their site, but also to have some to have many of my posts chosen for their prestigious “Best Fitness Articles of This Week” series. 2016 was my best year ever on this blog and a large part of the success was from the PTDC sending people to my blog to read my articles – thank you!

Many people have goals. However, many people also have a gap between where they are today and where they need to be to reach their goal. This post explores this concept and shows 3 ways to close the gap between you and your goals. Before you set goals for 2017, be sure to read this one.

The diet industry is full of fads. This is the biggest one we are in right now. Are you falling for it? How can you avoid it? Check out this post for details.

The post started as a great question from a former student and athlete of mine. What’s changed? After much thought and reflection, here is what I came up with. If you are a trainer or you are really into fitness, this one is for you!

I hate how ladies seem to always be at the receiving end of bad fitness information. Too many ladies waste their valuable time in the gym doing inferior exercises that are presented as “special” women-specific exercises to target those common female “problem spots.” Ladies, its time you knew the truth. It is time you got the results you deserve! Simply swap these popular 8 “lady exercises” for these superior alternatives and you will be on your way to success!

This post started with an excellent question from a student of mine. It ended up as a guide to understand your individual body structure and know how to find the best deadlift variations to suite your body. Deadlifts are an amazing exercise, but only if you the right variations for you!

Many people struggle with their hips shifting while they squat. Are you one of them? If so, this post will show you how to find the root cause of this and fix the problem.

The diet industry is full of dumb diet rules. Many of them are old, outdated and thoughtlessly passed along from one generation to the next. It is time for the new and improved “rules” of carbs. This post will help you find the right types, amounts and timing of carbs to give you your best results.

People often say, “success leaves clues.” While aside from those naturally super skinny folks who can eat whatever you want, there are habits that lean people follow – consistently to get and stay lean. If you want to melt off unwanted body fat, here are 7 habits you need to adopt.

Most core exercises suck. They waste your time and put unnecessary stress on your low back. Here are 7 superior alternatives that will spare your spine and hammer your abs! Enjoy!

This post also started with a simple conversation where I was told about someone’s diet. It ended up being the most popular post on my entire blog to date. Aside from falling for one of the countless quick-and-easy gimmicks that flood the weight loss industry, here is the worst weight loss mistake. Too many people make this one as a result, struggle their whole life with their weight. Don’t be one of these folks!

I wish you all a Happy New Year and all the best in 2017! I’ve already got a long list of ideas for new posts. However, I value you input and feedback. If there is something you wanted me to write about, feel free to drop a suggestion in the comment section below or on my Facebook Page
